The Lion

Here is a more in-depth bio for the slightly to extremely curious. It’s been… ages since I’ve had to delve into who I am, ages since I’ve even felt the need to. But since I’m just starting out on Tumblr and not as established as I am on Facebook or Twitter or Livejournal, it’s probably best that I do so.
Expect a smattering of:
- My art, fanart or otherwise
- Pretty things befitting my imagination
- Assassin’s Creed
- Star Wars
- Liam Neeson
- My cat
Those are mostly my current loves at the moment. I do not apologize for my ridiculously huge crush on Liam Neeson, not one bit. You’ll all have to deal.
This blog is mostly a place for me to dump all of my fandom related things and any artsy fartsy stuff that I do. While not the most prolific of fanartists, I’m trying to do more of it and will post it all here. I’m also a cosplayer, and I’ll post some of that here too.
My url means ‘the lion’ in Italian for those who are curious. I really am quite the textbook, poster child for the Leo sign, which is both hilarious and sometimes a curse. Oh me~
I went to an art college, so while not your stereotypical art school kid, I am very much an art/art history nerd, so expect some of that too! I graduated in the spring of 2010 with a BFA in Communication Arts and Illustration, and since then I’ve been mainly working as a freelance artist. I specialize in stationary and greeting card design, having worked on mostly weddings and related personal/private functions. I’m not going to link my professional website here (for obvious reasons) or drop my professional name, but if you’re curious as to the other body of work that I haven’t managed to post here then just drop me a message!
As an artist I’m mostly inspired by Alphonse Mucha and the whole Art Nouveau movement. I was pretty notorious for it in college, and it helped me develop and lock into a specific style of working that feels just like a second skin to me. I love to idolize women, use soft colors that are muted and pastel, focus on minute but ornate details, and I really prefer very vertical compositions. I work digitally and use line, and taught myself the Adobe Creative Suite when I was in the 10th grade.
I used to like anime, but have since sort of fallen out of love with it and disassociated myself with that whole scene. I’m still a fan of the my favorite shows, but I don’t actively seek out new series or anything. My con going has died down for lack of interest/money, but the only reason I still go now and then to cons still is for the costuming factor. I’m not a prolific cosplayer either, but I’ve been doing it for 6 years. I’ll probably post some of that too.
When it comes to music, my main genre is Electronic/Techno, and I gravitate more towards Vocal Trance, Synthpop, and Trip-hop. I also love classical music and opera, as I played the Viola for 13 years and was a member of a major youth symphony for 3 of those years.
And that’s all I can think of right now!
